Just a short drive south of Great Falls, this state park offers sweeping views and a bit of history. The short hiking trails and interpretive center at the base make it a fun outing if your family wants a little adventure. Keep an eye out for rattlesnakes!

Gibson Park
Located right in the center of town, Gibson Park is an easy place for a casual Mother’s Day outing. Have a picnic, take a walk around the park’s 1.3 mile loop, feed the ducks, or let the kids play at the playground while you enjoy some fresh air.
River’s Edge Trails
The River’s Edge Trail runs for miles along the Missouri River and connects many of Great Falls’ parks and scenic viewpoints. It’s a great option for a family bike ride or walk, or just getting outside together. Stroller-friendly.
A few popular trail access points:
Garden Home Park, 701 Bay Dr
West Bank Park, 200 3rd Ave NW (playground + picnic tables)
Caboose Trailhead, River’s Dr N between 15th St & 25th St
Ryan Island
A unique little park tucked between the river channels with great views of the waterfalls & Missouri River. This historic island opens for the season on Mother’s Day. A few picnic tables are available.

Mother’s Day Photos
One of the most meaningful Mother’s Day gifts is something that lasts longer than flowers or brunch—photos with your kids during this season of life.
As a Great Falls, MT family photographer, I love capturing those little moments between moms and their kids. Whether it’s a quick portrait together or a full family session, photos often become some of the most treasured memories from these years.
I offer relaxed, kid-friendly family photo sessions that capture the love, laughter, and little moments that make your family unique.
If you’re thinking about family photos for Mother’s Day, I’m offering a small number of spring mini sessions this year.
